New Male mayor says won't 'fight' with govt 'one bit'

"I don't want any conflict with any institution. I will work with everyone. I am everyone’s mayor," Azim said.

The new Mayor of Male, Adam Azim, has said does not intend to fight with the government in any matter during his tenure as mayor and will extend full support to the welfare of the people.

Speaking at the opening of the first council meeting held on Wednesday as mayor, Azim said he would give priority to working with the government to fulfil his campaign promises. Azim said:

  • He will give his full cooperation to the government without making any obstacles

  • The city council will not insult the government in any way

"Especially as the mayor of the city, I will not allow the slightest inconvenience in anything that benefits the people and could make life easier for the people. I assure the President and the government," he said.

Azim said he did not want any conflict to arise in the work of the council. He also asked any council member who feels that way to share it with him. He said he would continue to work with everyone.

"I don't want any conflict with any institution. I will work with everyone. I am everyone’s mayor," Azim said.
