President refutes first lady's "flat list" allegation
The President said he would not allow any rights to be deprived of the common man, not just housing.
President Mohammed Muizzu has denied that First Lady Sajidha Mohammed has a special list to give flats to various people, or that the First lady or himself would impede on anyone’s rights.
This question about the First Lady was asked in Tuesday’s Raees-ge Javaabu segment currently being broadcasted by the President's Office.
A resident of Hulhumale, Fathimath Adam, asked the President to respond to 'unknown media reports' that Sajida has a special list to distribute land and flats.
"We will not influence anyone in the government, or impede on anyone’s right; neither me nor my wife," he said.
The President said he would not allow any rights to be deprived of the common man, not just housing.
“Believe it; whether it is flats, land or any other programme, it will be done in a fair and transparent manner,” he said.
He assured that action would be taken if he received information that a government employee was influencing such a thing.
The President said his wife was being accused of possessing a special flat list with the aim of creating hatred and sedition against the government.
“It is not true at all,” the president said.
