President Mohammed Muizzu has launched the government's 'Riveli' program to teach Islam and Dhivehi subjects to Maldivian students living in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The program was launched by the President at a special ceremony held at the Taj Dubai Hotel in Dubai on Wednesday evening.
The 'Riveli' program is a pilot project launched by the government to teach Islam and Dhivehi subjects online to Maldivians living abroad.
Speaking at the ceremony, Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer said that with the launch of the programme in Dubai, Maldivians in other countries are also asking for this service. The government intends to expand the program even further and launch it in other countries with a large resident Maldivian population as well, he said. The minister added:

These include Malaysia, Singapore and Australia
-
Previously, Islam and Dhivehi subjects have not been taught online.
The program was launched in the UAE following an idea given by the President during his meeting with the Maldivians at the COP Summit held in the country late last year. About 300 Maldivians live in five of the seven emirates.
