China to train Maldivians on Sinamale Bridge maintenance
Under the agreement, the bridge will be surveilled, and repairs will be carried out.

China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) and Second Harbor Engineering Company (CHC) have signed an agreement to train Maldivians to repair and maintenance of the Sinamale Bridge.
The agreement was signed at a ceremony held at the Seneco Hall of the PSM building on Wednesday.

The agreement is part of the Letter of Exchange and Economic and Technical Cooperation signed between the Chinese government and the Maldives government to develop facilities and provide technical assistance for the repair and maintenance of the Sinamale Bridge.

The project will cost 26 million Chinese yuan (USD 3.6 million)

The duration of the project is three years
Under the agreement, the bridge will be surveilled, and repairs will be carried out.
In addition, the following activities will also be carried out:

Preventive Maintenance

Establish a system to maintain records of bridge maintenance works

Conduct assessments to identify bridge maintenance issues

Perform routine maintenance tasks; this includes, routinely performing periodic maintenance on various bridge components to identify required repairs and perform maintenance work

Developing the capability of Maldivian technicians to carry out maintenance works; at the end of the agreement, Maldivians will be able to take charge of bridge maintenance works, and it will be carried out under the supervision of this team and the skills and training required for the Maldivian team will be carried on through Sinamale Bridge maintenance activities.
