Opposition to offer legal aid for those sacked from govt companies
The MDP has accused the government of laying off employees of government-owned companies who participate in the opposition MDP's campaigns.

The main opposition Maldives Democratic Party (MDP) has decided to provide legal assistance to those who are dismissed from their jobs while working in government companies.
MDP Chairman Fayyaz Ismail on Sunday expressed concern over the dismissal of employees working in government-owned companies who supported the previous government.
He shared an X post on Sunday:

He also condemned the attacks on MDP candidates in the run-up to the upcoming parliamentary elections
While Fayyaz expressed this concern, MDP also shared an X post asking for the information of those who are dismissed to be shared through the party’s email.
MDP said it would provide legal assistance if such an incident occurs in a government-owned company. The post also said that various people have shared information with the party that many employees working in government companies are being fired and threatened with jobs.
