Japan provides $6 million in grant aid to Maldives
The minister noted the close friendship between the two countries, noting Japan's contribution to Maldives’ development.

Japan and Maldives has signed four agreements to provide grant assistance to the island nation.
The agreements were signed at a ceremony held at the Foreign Ministry on Monday:

On behalf of the Government of Maldives; Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer

On behalf of the Government of Japan; Ambassador to Maldives Takeuchi Midori
The Foreign Ministry said the agreements signed between Maldives and Japan on Monday will further strengthen relations between the two countries.
Agreements signed on Monday:

Contract for the supply of a customs patrol craft

Agreement to provide 260 million Japanese yen (approximately USD 1.72 million) for maritime safety and security

Agreement to provide 600 million Japanese yen (USD 3.97 million) to provide equipment for natural disaster prevention efforts and enhance the capacity to respond to such disasters

Agreement for the provision of 56 million Japanese yen (USD 370,076) for the provision of equipment for customs patrol vessels
At the signing ceremony, Foreign Minister Zameer thanked Japan for its assistance to Maldives’ development, especially social and economic development.
The minister also noted the close friendship between the two countries, noting Japan's contribution to Maldives’ development.
