The opportunity to express interest for the construction of a 50-room airport hotel in N.Maafaru has been opened.
Island Aviation (IAS), which operates Maafaru Airport, announced on Saturday that it has opened the opportunity to those interested in building and operating an airport hotel in Maafaru.
IAS said the opportunity to express interest will be open to domestic and foreign companies. With the completion of the second phase of the airport development and the increase in the number of direct flights from abroad, the airport will become a tourism hub, the IAS announcement said.
IAS welcomes various ideas for the project and will conduct it in a manner that will benefit both parties.
The company also informs that an information session will be held with interested parties to share more information about the project.
Maafaru Airport is one of the busiest airports in Maldives besides the main Velana International Airport. It accommodates a large number of private jets from abroad.
A second project is underway to develop the airport with the assistance of the Abu Dhabi Development Fund.
