Male Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) has been awarded the contract to upgrade the Addu water network system at a cost of MVR 282 million.
The agreement was signed at a ceremony held in Hithadhoo on Saturday:

On behalf of the Ministry of Infrastructure; State Minister Ibrahim Thoaam Mohammed

On behalf of the MWSC; MD Abdul Matheen Mohammed
Under this agreement, in Hithadhoo, Maradhoo, Maradhoo-Feydhoo and Feydhoo:

A new building will be constructed with a laboratory, control room, workshop, office and storage space
-
Distribution centers will be established
-
Two RO plants with a capacity of 1,500 tonnes per day will be installed with an energy recovery system

13,000 tonnes of storage will be added for water storage
-
6 boreholes will be drilled
-
100 kW solar will be installed

Equipment required for the laboratory will be provided

Completely new brine outflow will be established
In Hulhumeedhoo:

A new building will be constructed with a laboratory, control room, workshop, office and storage space

3,000 tonnes of storage will be added for water storage

75 kW solar will be installed
