Maldives pres invites opposition to work together after supermajority win

President Mohammed Muizzu says that the people handed the ruling party a supermajority in the parliament elections so that he can serve them efficiently, and he has urged the opposition political parties and leaders to work with him in the development of the country.
A special ceremony was held at Artificial Beach to celebrate the government's landslide victory in Sunday's parliamentary elections. The President addressed the gathering and here are some notable remarks in his victory speech:

He said he does not wish to speak much, on the occasion, and instead wished to let his actions speak

He believes this is what the people require of him, and is evidently the message given him via the parliamentary elections
"The whole country is saying the same thing today and the message is that they don't want speeches anymore, they want action. Then they shall see action," he said.
The President said that after the huge support given by the people to the government in the parliamentary elections, those watching Maldives' affairs abroad and the political opposition in Maldives will understand what the people want.
The President then called on the opposition to abandon political differences and take the country forward.
"So I would like to ask you to let go of the differences of opinion now. The election is over. I just very politely and happily call on all political leaders and all political parties to move forward," he said.
"This country belongs to all of us, the country of every Maldivian citizen, so let us all join hands in friendship and move forward together. Hopefully it will bring us happiness”.
He said that regardless of party affiliation, everyone is important and equal and he has love and respect for every citizen. He said he would not discriminate against any political party.

The President said the leaders and members of political parties should put the national interest first now so that future generations would be proud of it.
Thanking the people for their support in the parliamentary elections, the President said the next step is to accelerate the pace of work. The President assured the people that he would not disappoint them.
Referring to the ministers of various ministries, the President said that the work done in the last five months will be doubled and accelerated.
