When asked for details of political appointments to the Defense Ministry, the ministry said it would be on its website without disclosing the information.
The Ministry responded on Tuesday to a request made by Atoll Times on the 2nd of this month under the Right to Information Act.
Atoll Times has requested the number of political staff appointed to the Defense Ministry from November 17, 2023 to the 2nd of this month and their salaries.
"We have submitted that the information sought is published on the website of this Ministry," read the reply sent by the ministry's legal department.
The salaries of political appointees are not published on the website.
The number of political posts published on the Ministry of Defense website is three:
-
A Minister of State
-
A Deputy Minister
-
A Permanent Secretary
According to the President's Office website, two people have been appointed at the deputy ministerial level. Therefore, the information on these two websites is contradictory.
