The President's Office has filed an appeal against the Information Commissioner's Office (ICOM) decision to disclose the names and salaries of political employees appointed under Article 115 of the constitution by President Mohamed Muizzu.
The request for information sought details on political employees appointed between 17 November 2023 and 8 January 2024, including their names, addresses, ministries, positions, and salaries. ICOM ruled that while addresses should be withheld, the remaining details should be disclosed.
According to the High Court registry, the President's Office submitted its appeal last Monday. The court has not yet decided whether to proceed with the case.
In a separate case, the government has requested the High Court to keep the details of 248 political employees who had been fired as part of the government's economic reforms confidential.
