Some of the jobs previously held by foreigners in the police stations and departments are to be given to Maldivians.
Maldives Police Service announced on Sunday that it is looking for a person to bring in expatriates and do all the necessary paperwork for them.
However, the announcement was later cancelled.
When asked by a journalist as to why the announcement was cancelled, Chief Superintendent of Police Ahmed Shifan said the announcement was made to recruit foreigners to do the work that was usually done by expatriates in the police stations.
“The announcement was cancelled because the police service has decided to give priority to employing Maldivians instead,” Shifan said.
Shifan said various logistics jobs have been given to foreigners in the past.
