Police get allowance hike after 2-year term

The allowance due after two years under the police pay structure has been issued to officers who have completed two years of service.
The police salary structure was revised in March last year under the state pay framework. Salaries increased by 35 per cent with the new structure. The framework includes basic salary, position allowance, job allowance and work-related allowance.
The position allowance is paid to each post in addition to the basic salary. It is issued in two stages. The amendment did not state the exact amount for this allowance.
Assistant Commissioner of Police and spokesperson Ahmed Shifan said the allowance has moved to the second stage under the structure.
According to Shifan, payment applies to officers who have remained in the same rank and grade for two years, and who have recorded an average above 75 per cent over two consecutive years. He did not state the amount of the increase.
