Mom's Aid, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), has launched a campaign to provide essential items required to send children from poor families to school.
The campaign, called 'Back to School', aims to provide school supplies for 250 children. The money raised will provide books, pencils, bags, shoes and uniforms for the children.
Moms Aid is also sharing the stories of families who need such help. These include single mothers with many school-going children and families who cannot afford the cost of living because they cannot work due to illnesses.
"Every year, we go to a lot of trouble to get school stuff. We get used items from different people and send our children to school," said a mother who spoke to Moms' Aid, explaining her situation.
"Last year, when the new year started, the children went wearing old and smaller uniforms. My two older children went to school last year in formal uniforms because I couldn't buy activity uniforms”.
Another person said that she is very frustrated at the start of the new academic year every year because she cannot afford the necessary equipment for her children's school. These underprivileged mothers describe it as a heartbreaking sight to see their children going to school wearing second-hand, worn-out and ill-fitting uniforms.
Moms Aid conducted the 'Back to School' campaign last year as well and provided assistance to a large number of children under the campaign.
