The ruling and parliamentary super majority party, People’s National Congress (PNC), has approved the nomination of Fonadhoo MP-elect Abdul Raheem for the post of Speaker and Dhiggaru MP-elect Ahmed Nazim for the post of Deputy Speaker of the 20th Parliament, which will be sworn in next Tuesday.
The PNC’s freshly elected Parliamentary Group (PG)’s meeting chaired by President Mohammed Muizzu was held at Muliaage on Wednesday evening. After the meeting, the party’s chairperson Abdul Raheem told the media that they had decided to:

Back the nomination of Abdul Raheem for the Speaker of Parliament

Back the nomination of MP for Dhiggaru constituency as Deputy Speaker
In addition, Wednesday's meeting also decided on nominating Inguraidhoo Constituency Member-elect Ibrahim Falaah to be appointed as the party’s PG Leader

The meeting also approved the appointment of Eydhafushi Constituency Member Ahmed Saleem (Red Wave Saleem) as the Chairman of the Security Services Committee or the 241 Committee.
All the names were nominated to the meeting by President Mohammed Muizzu.
The election of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of Parliament will take place on Tuesday, immediately after the swearing in of the new Parliament.
