MP Shujau appointed to Clemency Board
The Clemency Board is established by the President under the Clemency Act.

Parliament on Tuesday approved the appointment of Baarah MP Ibrahim Shujau to the Clemency Board.
Shujau was appointed to the board by a majority vote of 88 members at Tuesday’s parliament sitting..
Inguraidhoo MP Ibrahim Falah moved to appoint Shujau as a member of the Clemency Board under the Clemency Act. The motion was supported by Villimale MP Mohammed Ismail.
The Clemency Board is established by the President under the Clemency Act. The Clemency Board will operate under the supervision of the Attorney General. The Attorney General is the Chairman of the Board.
The Clemency Board consists of 11 members. Not including the Attorney General, they are:

A person from the social sector

A religious scholar
-
A person from a civil association

A person from the parole board

A person from the police sector

A person from the judiciary

A member of the Parliament, appointed by the Parliament
