President Mohammed Muizzu has said that he will not take revenge on anyone politically, but also that he will not hesitate when justice is required.

The President was speaking at the official opening of the PNC booth in Veyovilla, Henveiru ward in the capital city Male on Sunday evening.

The President said that no one has been arrested for political revenge during his administration and he will not do such a thing in the future either.

"We will not take political revenge. The people of Maldives wanted to eradicate the spirit of revenge. It has now been eradicated from this country. We will not see any such thing in this country. As long as the people are with us, we will not see any spirit of revenge in this country," he said.

The President added:

  • He doesn't mind being criticised on any kind of "platform"

  • He will accept criticism

  • He will do what is necessary to establish justice

  • If there is evidence against those who commit corruption and theft, he will take action

'There is no room for corruption, theft or illegality. That is not revenge. It's about law and order. Therefore, if there is a need to look into the actions of the previous government, whether it was done by various companies or others, we will look and we will take action without considering who it is,' he said.

The President assured the people that he would serve the people sincerely for the next five years.
