Atoll Times has obtained some criminal records of the three men in the light of information released by some sources and official agencies.
Jinaah Ismail has previously been sentenced to 25 years in prison. He was released in 2022 after commuting his sentence in the case, which was a drug case.
Under the powers vested in the President by law, former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih released him after imposing conditions for two years.
Ibrahim Ikram, 33, was arrested for allegedly entering the stadium in 2022 to protest against the yoga event. After that:
-
He was released from custody on February 20 this year by the Criminal Court
-
According to his release, he was charged with, assault/intimidation/threatening/conduct prejudicial to the public interest
-
The reason for the release was that the video footage of the incident showed no scene of committing a crime or encouraging another person to commit a crime and there was no evidence of a criminal offence
Ikraam Al-Rahman, who was next arrested in the case, was sentenced to 16 years in prison in 2015 at the age of 16. The High Court upheld the sentence, which was later pardoned by the Juvenile Court, as he had chosen to participate in a rehabilitation programme.
