Probe over man for cooking, selling cat meat food

A case has been registered with the Police on Monday against a Bangladeshi man who allegedly took street cats from different parts of the city to his accommodation, butchered it and used its meat to make food and sell it to the unsuspecting public.
Arafat Hussain, who is living illegally in Maldives, has been ordered to appear before the Immigration Department.
The 32-year-old has been talked about on social media for some time. Some people have videotaped him trying to catch cats in the parking lot behind the Maryy Brown restaurant in the capital city Male.
The Animal Welfare Ministry took to its social media on Monday evening saying that an individual had shared the story of the cat-chaser with the ministry this morning. The matter was promptly reported to the police, the ministry said.
Some people on social media have accused the man of cooking and selling cat meat. It is linked to the decapitated cat parts found near his home as well as the constant sound of cats crying in the same area. He makes food like burgers at his home and sells them.
