President meets housing unions; reassures top priority

Representatives from housing unions expressed their concerns and issues regarding the housing situation in the Male region.

President Mohamed Muizzu on Monday met with members of several housing unions.

The meeting held at the President’s Office include members of Fahi Union, Giraavaru Male Citizen’s Association, Hulhumale Rayyithunge Committee, and the Male Ravvehinge Jamiyyaa. 

During the meeting, representatives from these housing unions expressed their concerns and issues regarding the housing situation in the Male region.

Some of the issues highlighted included delays in handing over land registrations for issued land lots, the need to expedite the issuance of assurance letters to residents in the Male region, and improving the accountability of authorities.

The president remarked that ensuring housing is one of the top priorities of the government.

He reassured that all recipients of housing who have had their names listed in the gazette would receive housing in accordance with his pledge, provided it abides by the regulations.

The president elaborated on the ongoing efforts to provide housing opportunities and assured the unions that the difficulties faced would be resolved.

He also assured the unions that the authorities would explore avenues to ease the difficulties faced by the public.
