Maldives talks with China bank to build Thilafushi-UTF bridge
A bridge will connect from Thilafushi to UTF, President Mohamed Muizzu said at this year's Independence Day celebrations.
Government on Tuesday held talks with a Chinese bank to conduct pre-feasibility work on a bridge connecting K. Thilafushi industrial island to Uthuru Thilafushi (UTF).

The president said the project had been discussed with China's Asia Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and invited to submit proposals.
The hope is to start the practical work in 2026 and complete the project within a maximum of three years, he added.
Infrastructure ministry said on Tuesday that minister Dr Abdulla Muththalib had held a meeting with AIIB officials to discuss the pre-feasibility study of the project to connect Thilafushi to UTF with a bridge.
The project will connect the Greater Male Region and bring economic growth, the ministry said.
The last government has started the construction of a bridge from Male to Thilafushi with the assistance of an Indian loan. The project is already underway.
