Police have asked the Prosecutor General's Office (PG) to prosecute three suspects in connection with the smuggling of heroin worth MVR 2 million in street value and weighing 2 kg.
On July 24, 2.12 kg of heroin was found in the luggage of a Pakistani man who was trying to enter Maldives. The man and two others have been arrested in the case and charges have been requested against all three.
Police said on Sunday that the charges against the three men were sent to the prosecutor's office on Tuesday. Police have also released the identities of the three men:

The Criminal Court on Saturday remanded the Pakistani in custody for another 20 days. The prosecution told the court that the charges would be filed this week.
Earlier, Police Traffic Investigation Head, Chief Inspector Ahmed Waheed said the suspects had links with a drug network operating abroad.
