Muizzu's visit comes after his participation in Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s swearing-in ceremony in June. His meetings with the Indian leadership, including Modi, are scheduled for October 7.
This trip follows steps taken by both sides to improve ties. In August, Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar visited the Maldives, where agreements on the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) system and other Indian-funded projects were signed.
