Police probe forgery case against Salman Mosque Imam

Hashim's family alleges that his businesses were transferred to Jaleel by forging documents.

Police are investigating a case of forgery case against Salman Mosque Imam and deputy Islamic minister Abdul Jaleel Ismail.

A video that shows an argument where Jaleel was accused of transferring the businesses of Hashim Mohamed, 44, who was found dead inside a house in Maafannu ward in Male on January 2, 2022, through forgery was circulated on social media.

Police said a case of forgery was reported on September 19.

It is learned that Hashim's family is accusing Jaleel of forgery. Hashim's family alleges that his businesses were transferred to Jaleel by forging documents.

Police added:

  • A dispute between the two parties inside the store was reported on September 23; Police are also investigating the case

  • Both parties have been instructed to pursue the property and land dispute through the Civil Court
