The State Trading Organisation (STO) has announced that it will start selling coconuts at reduced prices from Saturday.
STO Managing Director Shimad Ibrahim stated that the current market price for coconuts ranges between MVR 10 and MVR 25. However, STO has set the price at MVR 5 per coconut.
According to a statement issued by STO:

The first batch of coconuts imported from India has arrived in the Maldives.

Sales will begin Saturday at the STO People’s Choice store.

Alongside coconuts, lemons will also be available for purchase in preparation for Ramadan.
STO imports food items under four categories:

Basic staples – including onions, potato, eggs, and dates.

Fresh fruits and vegetables.

Prepared foods – such as Nestlé cream, cocoa powder, baked beans, and condensed milk.

Cooking essentials – including sunflower oil, vegetable oil, and basmati flour.
