State Trading Organisation (STO) has revised the prices of onions, potatoes and eggs for the month of Ramadan.

Additionally, STO has imported a shipment of garlic following a price increase in the market. Garlic is now available at STO People's Choice for MVR 45 per kg, whereas market prices had recently risen to MVR 90 per kg.

STO determines the prices of essential food items based on market conditions. The latest revision marks the fourth adjustment in response to market fluctuations. The updated prices are as follows:

  • Onions: MVR 335 per sack, MVR 14 per kg

  • Eggs: MVR 350 per case

  • Potatoes: MVR 515 per sack, MVR 25 per kg

The imported items will be available at STO People's Choice, STO Hulhumale, and the wholesale site.

To address market fluctuations, STO has categorised food imports into four groups:

  • 1-

Basic staples: Onions, eggs, potatoes, dates

  • 2-

Fresh vegetables and fruits: Lemons, ginger, limes, carrots, oranges, cabbage

  • 3-

Processed foods: Nestlé cream, cocoa powder, baked beans, condensed milk

  • 4-

Cooking ingredients: Sunflower oil, vegetable oil, basmati flour
