MTCC opens Henveiru, Hulhumale ferry terminals for speedboats
MTCC stated that the decision was made to improve convenience for passengers travelling from the atolls to Male.
Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) on Thursday opened the opportunity for speedboat ferry operators travelling between Male and the atolls to request access to Henveiru Ferry Terminal and Hulhumale Ferry Terminal.
In a statement, MTCC stated that the decision was made to improve convenience for passengers travelling from the atolls to Male.
MTCC has invited interested operators to submit their requests via email to tsd@mtcc.com.mv by 2 pm on 10 March.
Henveiru and Hulhumale ferry terminals were previously used for ferry services between Male and Hulhumale. However, passenger numbers declined significantly following the opening of the Sinamale Bridge. Since then, the terminals have primarily been used for ferry operations between Male, Crossroads, and Kudagiri.
Currently, speedboat ferries operating between Male and the atolls use various jetties on the northern side of Male and the harbour on the southern side.
