Segment one of the first phase of the Boduthakurufaanu Magu construction project has been completed, and the tarred section was opened to the public Monday.
The widening and development of Boduthakurufaanu Magu began last August. MTCC received the contract with a completion period of 455 days. The cost of the project is MVR 144 million.
The first segment of the work, carried out in five segments, is now complete and accessible to the public. Segment one covers a 130-metre area up to the Police Headquarters at the Shaheed Hussain Adam Building. The section has been paved, and a drainage system has been installed.
Work will now begin on the next segment, which spans 250 metres from the local market to the North Harbour.
The two-phase project includes the following components:

Widening Boduthakurufaanu Magu to four lanes from the northern side

Tarring an 830-metre road section from the Hulhumalé Ferry Terminal to the local market

Construction of fences

Installation of a drainage system

Installation of road markings and signboards

Sheet piling along a 737-metre area
