6 cafe deals signed for upcoming Hulhumale Urban Boulevard

The area to be developed in Urban Boulevard was earlier used in Hulhumale Phase I as a barbecue area.

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) on Saturday signed agreements with six parties to set up cafes and restaurants as part of the Urban Boulevard project to develop the area where both phases of Hulhumale connect.

At a function held on Saturday, the companies to develop the Urban Boulevard signed agreements with HDC. They are:

  • Brothers Catering

  • RefCool

  • Celsius Pvt. Ltd.

  • Misraabu Private Limited

  • Dine-more Restaurant

  • Dreams Pvt. Ltd.

The cafe/restaurant agreement to be set up by Brothers Catering was signed by manager Mohamed Shaif on behalf of the company.

Refcool, Celsius Private Limited and Misraabu Private Limited will set up three cafes each. The agreements were signed by:

  • Refcool Operations Manager Ahmed Nihad

  • Mohammed Fazeel, Managing Director of Celsius

  • Ahsan Zahir, director of Misraabu

Sri Lanka's popular franchise brand Dine-more, which already runs many restaurants in Male, has also decided to set up a restaurant in the Urban Boulevard. The agreement was signed by Dine-more Managing Director Abdulla Ali.

Dreams Private Limited is planning to set up Kenny Rogers Roasters, the first global franchise outlet to open in Urban Boulevard. The agreement was signed by Ibrahim Hussain, Chief Executive Officer of Dreams Company.

All agreements were signed on behalf of HDC by Chief Financial Officer Ahmed Sham.

In referring to these agreements, HDC said in a press release:

  • These outlets will offer different cuisine food in fusion style; cafes can be designed in an eco-friendly manner

  • By the time Urban Boulevard is completed, the area will become a "full symbol" of Hulhumale development and vibrant society.

  • Boulevard to be set up in Hulhumale will provide multiple services at one place

  • It will be a popular place that residents of Hulhumale's two phases and visitors can use to spend time with family and friends

  • Apart from cafe/restaurants, many facilities like children's parks and outdoor gyms will be set up
