Maldives has achieved 65% of the target of 1.8 million tourist arrivals this year.
According to statistics released by the tourism ministry on Friday, 1.1 million tourists arrived in the Maldives as of Wednesday. The Maldives now needs 634,663 tourists to meet the target of 1.8 million.
According to the statistics, on an average, 5,631 tourists visit the Maldives every day. Going by the number, it is estimated that 800,000 tourists will visit the Maldives in the remaining four months and a half of the year:

1.9-2 million tourist arrivals expected by the end of the year

That is 165,000 more tourists than this year's target
The 1.1 million tourist arrivals so far this year are 141,608 more than the same period last year, marking an increase of 13.8%. On an average, tourists stay in the Maldives for 7.7 days. This is also an improvement over last year.
Despite the Russia-Ukraine war, most of the tourists are still coming from Russia.
