Nashiz elected budget committee chair; Rasheed as deputy
Nashiz was elected chairman and Rasheed as vice-chairman of the committee formed to review the budget for the fourth consecutive year.
The parliamentary budget committee on Tuesday elected Kinbidhoo MP Mohamed Nashiz as its chairman and Alifushi MP Mohamed Rasheed as its vice chairman.
At the budget committee meeting held after finance minister Ibrahim Ameer's budget presentation in Tuesday's parliament sitting, Nashiz was elected chairman and Rasheed as vice-chairman of the committee formed to review the budget for the fourth consecutive year.

Nashiz's name was moved by Dhandhoo MP Yaugoob Abdullah; the motion passed by a majority of 15 MPs present in the committee

Nashiz proposed the name of Rasheed as his deputy; the motion was also passed by a majority of 15 MPs present in the committee
Nashiz is the chairman of the parliamentary finance committee. Rasheed is the chairman of the economic committee of parliament. The budget is studied by a joint committee comprising members of the two committees.
