Faisal says aim to make young people resort owners
Thanking the founders of tourism, Faisal urged the youth to learn from it and take courage.
Tourism minister Ibrahim Faisal said on Friday that making Maldivians the owners of the tourism industry, including resorts, is one of the biggest goals.
In his address on the occasion of World Tourism Day, Faisal assured that the people of Maldives will work to achieve progress.
Faisal said the people of Maldives are very interested in tourism. It is the policy of this government to encourage young people to do this business, he said.
Faisal mentioned the following as the goals that Maldivians want to achieve empowerment in the tourism sector:

Ensuring that the majority of the general managers of the resorts are Maldivians

Maldivians in other senior positions in resorts

The aim is to get young people into tourism, invest and become owners of three or four resort
The minister urged everyone to refrain from anything anything that may harm tourism in order to achieve these goals.
“As a country that relies on tourism, the stability of the country is something that everyone of us should think about,” Faisal said.
Maldives has become the world's leading tourist destination today, he said, adding that the whole world was saying that this is impossible for the people of Maldives.
