Customs arrests man linked with 5.9 kg drug seizure

Customs authorities have arrested a 45-year-old Maldivian man in connection with the seizure of 5.9 kilograms of drugs discovered in an airfreight shipment.
The arrest followed a search operation conducted on a shipment that had arrived in the Maldives.
Customs officials announced that the drugs, which were identified following the inspection, have been handed over to the police for further investigation.
According to Customs, the details of the seizure are as follows:

The drugs were found in an airfreight shipment from Bangkok on Thursday.

Officials had suspicions about the contents of the shipment, prompting a thorough examination that resulted in the recovery of the suspected drugs.

Preliminary tests identified two different types of substances: 416 grams of cathinone and 5,520 grams of cannabis, totalling 5.9 kilograms.
