President Mohamed Muizzu has announced the launch of the Hiyaavehi Financing Programme, a government initiative to support individuals and families in constructing homes on allotted land in the Malé region.

Speaking at the programme’s launch, the president assured that preparations are underway and technical details will soon be finalised for the scheme.

The programme aims to provide financial assistance for home construction on designated plots in areas such as Hulhumale, Gulhifalhu, and Giraavarufalhu.

The president shared updates on the land allocation process, confirming that plots in Hulhumale Phase 2 have been handed over, with Phase 3 to follow.

He also noted that Gulhifalhu’s unfinished areas will soon be reclaimed, and Giraavarufalhu land allocations are being realigned according to the Land Use Plan.

Highlighting the government’s broader housing agenda, the president expressed commitment to addressing challenges and developing urban centres across the country, reducing the housing burden in the Malé area.

“I am confident that with your support, this administration will resolve the housing issues. Today marks our first step towards achieving that goal,” he said
