Local Government Authority (LGA) has requested the Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll Council to investigate allegations against GDh. Gadhdhoo Island Council President Mohamed Ahmed for remarks deemed insulting toward President Mohamed Muizzu and senior government officials, made in a council WhatsApp group.
The LGA’s request was communicated in a letter sent to Atoll Council President Faihath Gudratullah on November 18. According to the LGA, the complaint was filed by a private individual.
Faihath Gudratullah confirmed to Atoll Times that the matter is under investigation. However, no information has been provided on whether any specific action has been taken thus far.
"It will continue administratively. The atoll council will act as directed by the LGA," Faihath said when asked about the status of the investigation or potential action against Mohamed Ahmed.
