Aasandha signs pacts to expand scheme to UAE, Thailand
Government announced its plans to include Thailand and the UAE in the Aasandha scheme in January.
Aasandha on Tuesday signed agreements with two medical institutions to facilitate patient referrals to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Thailand under the Aasandha scheme.
The agreements were signed with the following institutions:
-
World Medical Hospital, Thailand
-
Burjeel Medical City, Dubai
Aasandha has not disclosed further details regarding the agreements or the date when services under the scheme will become available in these countries.
The government is working to expand the Aasandha scheme to two additional countries. Recent changes to the scheme’s regulations have been introduced with the stated aim of reducing waste, although some members of the public have expressed concerns about these adjustments.
Currently, Aasandha services are available in several hospitals in India and the Maldives. India receives the highest number of patients seeking treatment under the scheme.
The government announced its plans to include Thailand and the UAE in the Aasandha scheme during a press conference following President Mohamed Muizzu’s first visit to China in January. Further details about the implementation of these plans are yet to be shared.
