A Bangladeshi man was stabbed in the back while walking down a street in K. Gaafaru on Tuesday.
The Maldives Police Service reported that the attack occurred at approximately 7:05am.
Authorities have since arrested a suspect in connection with the incident. The suspect has been identified as Jaazim Jaufar from Gulisthaanuge, K. Gaafaru.
Photos circulating on social media show the attacker wielding a knife approximately 15 cm in length. The victim was stabbed near the right shoulder on his back.
Police have confirmed that an investigation is underway to determine the motive behind the attack and any potential links between the suspect and the victim. No further details regarding the victim’s condition have been disclosed at this time.
