CSC opens applications for PS of merged tourism, environment ministry

President Muizzu has combined the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Tourism into a single entity.

Civil Service Commission (CSC) on Monday announced the recruitment process for the Permanent Secretary (PS) of the newly merged Ministry of Tourism and Environment.

Following the dismissal of former Tourism Minister Ibrahim Faisal last week, President Mohamed Muizzu combined the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Tourism into a single entity. Thoriq Ibrahim, who previously served as Environment Minister, has been appointed as the new minister.

As a result of the merger, the Permanent Secretary positions of both ministries have been dissolved. The CSC has now opened applications for the new position.

According to the CSC announcement:

  • Applications for the post will be accepted until 2 pm on the 11th of this month.

  • The minimum qualification required is a Level 7 certification in the National Qualifications Framework with at least six years of management experience, or a Level 9 qualification with at least four years of management experience.

  • The basic salary for the position is MVR 20,500 per month, with an additional living allowance of MVR 15,000, bringing the total to MVR 35,500 per month.

  • The term of office for the appointed individual will be five years, in accordance with the law.
