
Committee initiates impeachment for CSC VP Rasheed
Rasheed was appointed to the CSC in September 2020 by former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
The Independent Institutions Committee of Parliament has decided to initiate the process of impeaching Civil Service Commission (CSC) Vice-President Ibrahim Rasheed.
During the committee meeting held on Monday, Hulhudhoo MP Mohamed Shahid proposed the motion to begin proceedings for Rasheed’s removal.
Committee Chairperson and Maafushi MP Hussain Riza announced that the motion was passed, with only Galolhu South MP Meekail Ahmed Naseem objecting. However, no details were provided regarding the institution involved or the specific allegations. Members also discussed the matter informally with their microphones off.
A committee member later confirmed that the motion pertains to the removal of CSC Vice-President Ibrahim Rasheed.
