A 1,000 kW generator has been transported to Addu to address ongoing electricity supply issues caused by genset failures.
The generator was brought to the city Wednesday night as part of efforts to stabilise power distribution to the connected islands.
In addition, a 1,800 kW engine from India has arrived in Male and is being unloaded for transport to Addu.
Power supply disruptions have affected the city, prompting ongoing maintenance and repair work. Since the beginning of the month, the following work has been carried out:

Major servicing of five engines

Overhaul of three engines

Preventive maintenance on 18 engines

Replacement of spare parts for eight engines
Addu's Central Power Station’s technical team has been working an average of 18 hours per day to complete necessary repairs. Two engines, including a 1,800 kW engine (No. 3) and a 1,600 kW engine (No. 18), remain under repair.
