Ex-Immigration chief Shamman remanded for 15 days amid probe

The allegations include:

Using their authority to search a residence occupied by foreigners and detaining several individuals.

Taking the foreigners into immigration custody along with MVR 530,000.

Releasing one foreigner the following night on Shamman’s orders in exchange for cash.

Meeting the released foreigner on the street and taking the money to Shamman’s residence.
Police have seized a significant amount of cash and electronic devices from Shamman’s residence as part of the investigation.
