A key section of the Thilamale Bridge project has been placed in the main structure of the bridge, marking a significant step in its construction.
The Indian High Commission in the Maldives released images of the project on its official social media account on Thursday, highlighting the latest development.
According to the High Commission:

The connected pillar section is the longest precast navigation span segment in the world.

The segment measures 8.23 metres in length, 25.37 metres in width, and weighs 216.04 metric tons.

The installation is considered an important achievement in the bridge’s construction.
Key Details of the Thilamale Bridge Project:

Total cost: $500 million (MVR 6.2 billion).

India's financial assistance includes $100 million (MVR 1.55 billion) in grant aid.

Experts from Turkey, Germany, and Australia are involved in the project.

The project is financed through a loan from Exim Bank of India.

The Ministry of Construction previously reported that 40% of the bridge was completed by mid-last year.
