
Govt reopens bids for housing units across 57 islands
The project involves the construction of more than 12,000 housing units.
The Ministry of Finance has reopened the bidding process for the construction of housing units across 57 islands in the Maldives.
The ministry had previously announced the recruitment of contractors for the project in January. According to the Ministry of Finance, the project involves the construction of more than 12,000 housing units and has been categorised into four groups based on the number of units planned per island:

Category 1: Islands with 50 or fewer housing units

Category 2: Islands with 51 to 150 housing units

Category 3: Islands with 200 to 250 housing units

Category 4: Islands with 300 or more housing units
Five separate announcements have been issued by the ministry to pre-qualify contractors for the project. Each announcement includes details of the islands and the number of units to be built.

The Ministry of Finance stated that contractors will be recruited in accordance with international standards and relevant state finance regulations.
Interested parties are required to pay a non-refundable fee of MVR 1,500 to participate in the pre-qualification process. Applications must be submitted through the official tender portal.
