
Woman injured in fall transferred abroad for treatment
The government provided MVR 385,500 to facilitate the transfer.
Hawwa Yumnu Rasheed, who was found fallen on the rooftop of H. Mitaz House after falling from the ninth floor of H. Fentenoige on 18 April, has been transferred to Malaysia for further medical treatment.
Yumnu, 21, was discovered on the roof of H. Mitaz House in the early hours of the morning. Raud Ahmed Zilal, 21, who was in the building with her at the time, has been arrested in connection with the incident.
After receiving initial treatment for serious injuries at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) in Malé, Yumnu was transported to Malaysia for further care on a Maldivian Airlines flight at approximately 9 p.m. Saturday evening.
The government provided MVR 385,500 to facilitate the transfer. In addition to this amount, further funds were collected with assistance from the public, including contributions raised through social media platforms. More than MVR 800,000 has been raised to support Yumnu’s treatment.
The police have released the names of eight individuals who were with Yumnu on the night of the incident. Police also confirmed that the passports of these individuals have been seized as investigations continue.
