Commission to launch public info portal on woman’s fall probe
According to Munawwar, the portal will provide regular updates and allow members of the public to submit questions.
The Presidential Commission established to investigate the fall of Hawwa Yumnu Rasheed onto the roof of H. Mitaz house on 18 April has announced plans to introduce an online portal to share information and engage with the public.
At the commission’s first press conference on Wednesday, former Attorney General Dr Mohamed Munawwar said the decision to create the portal was made to maintain transparency throughout the investigation.
According to Munawwar, the portal will provide regular updates and allow members of the public to submit questions. He said the commission would make its work visible on a daily basis through available technology.
“This work will be done in a way that is visible on a day-to-day basis. In modern times, technology should be used to that level,” Munawwar said.
However, he noted that certain details would be withheld until the investigation concludes, due to the criminal nature of the case.
“Otherwise, we will keep you informed of the work being done,” he added.
Munawwar reaffirmed his commitment to conduct the investigation independently and said he would resign if he faced any external influence. He also stated that the commission aims to ensure justice in the case without delay.
