Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Abdulla Khaleel is scheduled to arrive in India on Sunday for a three-day official visit to attend the second meeting of the Maldives-India High-Level Core Group.
The core group was established to oversee the implementation of the roadmap discussed during President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s official visit to India in October 2024, which was undertaken at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Foreign Minister will be accompanied by Indian officials, including External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar, according to Indian media reports. Meetings between Dr Khaleel and his Indian counterpart are expected to take place during the visit.
The second meeting of the high-level core group will be held tomorrow. The first meeting took place in Malé in January this year.
During the inaugural meeting, both sides discussed the implementation of a framework titled “A Vision for Comprehensive Economic and Maritime Security Partnership.” Topics covered included the strengthening of bilateral ties and cooperation in multiple areas, such as:

Health
-
Digital finance
-

The upcoming meeting in New Delhi is expected to build on these discussions.
