Applications open for individual land allocation scheme
Applications will be accepted from Wednesday until the end of the month through the Hiyaavehi Portal.
The government has opened applications for land plots under the ‘Binveriya Special Scheme’ as part of its housing policy.
The Ministry of Housing, Land and Urban Development stated that applications will be accepted from Wednesday until the end of the month through the Hiyaavehi Portal.
Under the revised guidelines, individuals who were previously allocated land plots as joint applicants under the original ‘Binveriya’ scheme are now eligible to receive individual plots. This applies if all joint applicants agree to relinquish their shared allocation.
The guidelines also allow individuals who were previously ineligible for the scheme due to receiving a flat under a government housing project to apply for land plots.
Plots under this scheme will be allocated from Rasmalé, with each plot measuring 1,250 square feet.
The scheme includes two main categories. The first covers individuals who were allocated land as joint applicants under the earlier scheme. The second includes individuals who were previously excluded due to receiving housing under government projects.
The ministry stated that individuals who did not meet eligibility criteria under the previous scheme due to flat ownership are now permitted to apply.
Applicants who have already received land under the ‘Binveriya’ scheme may also apply, provided they agree to surrender any flat obtained under a government housing programme.
The ministry stated that the final allocation process will be determined based on the number of eligible applicants and the availability of land.
In addition, under the ‘Family Housing’ programme within the government’s housing policy, a separate category has been introduced for persons with disabilities, allowing them to submit applications for flats under a designated framework.
