The Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure has begun conducting a draw for land recipients under the Binveriya housing scheme, allocating plots in Gulhifalhu based on the land use plan previously determined.
The draw is taking place at the Usfasgandu area in Malé and is being overseen by officials from the Housing Ministry. The process includes re-drawing lots among the beneficiaries to ensure distribution in line with planned zoning and plot size categories.
According to the ministry, the following number of plots are being allocated:
-
684 lots measuring 1,250 square feet
-
1,242 lots measuring 1,650 square feet
-
923 lots measuring 2,050 square feet
-
479 lots measuring 2,450 square feet
-
158 lots measuring 2,850 square feet
-
49 lots measuring 3,250 square feet
-
22 lots measuring 3,650 square feet
Each land recipient is allowed to participate in the draw. If the recipient cannot attend, a representative may take part with a no-objection letter from the landowner and a copy of their national ID card.
Recipients are being updated in real time through the Gedhoruveriya portal, and landowners receive SMS notifications as the draw proceeds. Once the draw is complete, further details regarding land registry and agreements will be issued by the ministry.
The current government has committed to allocating over 2,000 plots of land under the Binveriya scheme, which was initiated by the previous administration. As part of this plan, 1,347 recipients who were previously allocated land at Giraavaru Falhu will have their plots transferred to Gulhifalhu.
