Eight individuals have submitted nominations for the position of General Member of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), ahead of the expiry of the current member's term.
The term of Dr Aminath Ummukulsoom, the incumbent General Member of the JSC, will conclude on 6 July. The JSC, which is composed of eight members, opened the nomination for this seat on 12 June.
The list of candidates was announced during today’s parliamentary sitting.

The names have been referred to the Judiciary Committee for evaluation. A candidate will be appointed to the position based on the Committee’s recommendation and subsequent approval by the Parliament.
