More recipients now allocated flats
The ministry is currently coordinating with the Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) to facilitate agreement signings and the handover of flats.
The Ministry of Housing has started allocating flats to individuals who had not signed agreements during the initial round of flat allotments under the government’s Gedhoruveriya scheme.
The allocations are being made based on the final list issued by the previous administration's Housing Ministry, published in the Government Gazette on 15 November 2023.
According to the announcement that accompanied the list:
-
In the first round, individuals with 76 points or more were awarded three-bedroom flats.
-
Remaining three-bedroom flats were allocated through a draw to those who scored 75 points.
-
Two-bedroom flats were allotted to applicants with scores of 73 and above.
The ministry stated that a draw was held on 16 November 2023 to determine flat allocations for those scoring above 76.
“Some applicants who scored above 76 were not allocated flats, while some who scored 75 received flats through the draw,” the ministry said in its latest announcement.
As a result, the ministry has confirmed that all applicants scoring above 76 points, as listed in the previous Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure’s announcement, are now being allocated flats. Once this process is complete, allocation for those scoring 75 points will be finalised.
The ministry is currently coordinating with the Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) to facilitate agreement signings and the handover of flats.
FDC began signing agreements with flat recipients on 21 July. According to the latest figures released by the company, 232 agreements had been signed by the end of last week. The FDC has also indicated efforts to expedite the signing process and increase daily output.
